Get Involved

As we begin our very first year, there’s no better time to get involved and help shape the future of the Tomas High School Band!

Parent volunteers are the heartbeat of our program and we can’t build something great without the energy, support, and enthusiasm of our amazing parents. Whether you’re behind the scenes or cheering from the sidelines, volunteering is a fun and rewarding way to connect with other families and get a front-row seat to all the excitement.

Our band community is just getting started, and you have a chance to be part of something special from day one. Check out all of the ways you can help below and sign up for one (or more!) to get in on the magic of the Tomas Band.

We’re excited to meet you and welcome your family into ours!

Transporting our students from school to the stadium and back can be a big undertaking. Still, it’s also an excellent opportunity to get to know the kids and other parents and guardians! We need many chaperones to make it happen, and we’d love for you to join us.

As a chaperone, you’ll ride with the students on the school buses to and from games and the charter buses for out-of-town contests. Game days can happen on Thursdays, Fridays, or Saturdays, so there are plenty of opportunities to get involved.

Whether you can help once a week or once during the season, we would be thrilled to have you on board!

We need YOU on Loading Crew! Moving the Gator Band and Color Guard to their various off-site practices, football games, and competitions is no easy task. The band program relies on a dedicated group of parents in the Loading Crew to help with this job.

There is quite a bit of effort needed to load and unload all of this equipment. While the students do help with this task, the band program relies heavily on our adult Loading Crew to get us to and from our various events, trips, practices, and competitions. It’s a great way to get plugged into the band program.

We have lots of fun while helping the program. There is no long-term commitment. Help as little or as much as you like. During the marching season, we set up weekly rotations based on those who are available to help.

Our goal is to make sure all of our talented band students look their best for every performance. We fit marching uniforms during summer camp and tuxedos and dresses in the spring for concert season.

Many hands make light work and we are excited to welcome anyone who is willing to help. No experience necessary! The process is easy and we will show you everything you need to know.

Volunteer opportunities in the uniform room include hanging uniform pieces, organizing inventory, ironing, fitting uniforms and sewing simple alterations.

We also have volunteers help students with uniform needs before and after each game, competition or concert.

Feeding our band and guard members is no small feat! That’s where the Food Crew comes in – we provide delicious meals, beverages, and snacks to keep everyone fueled and ready for game day and contest trips.

It takes about 8 – 10 volunteers to set up tables, put out food, keep the cookies/chips and drinks tables stocked and clean up the serving area afterwards.

Meals are served at school before every football game, and you’ll be done in time to go to the game. For marching contests, meals may be at school or at the contest site, and there may be more than one meal during the day.

Volunteer for one or many, it’s up to you. A weekly signup email will be sent to those on the Food Crew Volunteer list.

Photographers are needed at every band event to capture the special moments of our kids. These volunteers have an “All Access” pass to the band. The photos that are taken are uploaded onto the band SmugMug page, where the pictures are available to parents and students at no cost!

Much like our photographer role, we are looking for a dedicated videographer to capture high-quality footage of the band’s performances. These videos serve as a valuable tool for both students and staff to review and reflect on progress throughout the season.
